XBLIG.Saved();
Thanks to everyone who voted on the XBLIG placement on the new dash in this post: http://www.sgtconker.com/2010/11/savetehxblig/.
Microsoft listened and Indie Games are now a part of the Games & Demos section again but they are apparently omitted from searches according to this post on the forums: http://forums.create.msdn.com/forums/t/65669.aspx.
Hugs all around fo sho.

You may also want to point out that XBLIG are age restricted by default. If you have an existing under 18 (child) gold account, you no longer have access to the XBLIG Marketplace. This occured with the new Dash Update. It’s not related to any family or security settings. The restriction is based upon the age you entered when you first created the account. And MS points out at Xbox.com that that age setting is unchangable. Additionally, any new family members added to the new Gold Family plan are restricted from XBLIG Marketplace. And there are no work arounds for this. Only the Primary account holder in a Gold Family Plan can access XBLIG. (See the disccusion below about this issue)

It’s unfortunate but that’s the way it currently is. This is the price you pay for calling XBLIG games user generated content instead of just games.

XBLIG has always been age restricted. It’s just now it has a Dash update to enforce it.
The problem with parental controls are the ESRB. It cost’s AAA titles a fair sum just to get evaluated. Would xblig as a whole give up profits for those few titles? Or would we rather have those few titles give up more of their earnings to reach their proper market?
I’ll agree that getting nothing now sucks when it’s been technically ‘allowed’ but it should’ve probably been made a little more clear. Thanks for bringing this up, I’ll make it a point to always reiterate it until something changes.

That means we will be able to make porn adult games?

…
No? Then I don’t see why it was restricted.

Jeremy,
It appears MS fixed the age restrictions associated with XBLIG both for new Family Gold accounts and for Child gold accounts.

If ESRB is the problem, then someone may need to mention that to Apple, Facebook, Steam and countless other Web portals springing up on a daily basis offering digital distribution of games. This has less to do with ESRB and more to do with the archaic approach MS chose for Indie development on the 360. Using peer review instead of a certification model (Note that WP7 uses certification instead of peer review thus avoiding this whole ugly mess) means MS took a completely hands off approach with content review. Having no stake or knowledge of the content requires them to call Indie games unrated content. All they need to do is eliminate peer review and merge the 360 and WP7 business models, passing all games through certification. Problem solved. The same model used by every other digital distribution system. It’s just an issue of committment and terms of service.
